For those who may prefer modern spacious bright surroundings and an alfresco continental environment, the new “cafe paninis” located at the new Brewers Square, is the perfect setting whether it is for meeting friends and enjoying your cappuccino, or a long light business lunch deciding the choice of freshly made filling for your baguette.
Thomas Hardy, would meet his friends in The Old Tea House which over the centuries has been many things, but only a tea room since 1902 . Current owners recently found a copy of an old abbot’s bible with a 15th century cover over a 12th century manuscript, lodged up the main chimney, while refurbishment was being carried out, these items can now be seen at the Dorchester county museum. Today the owners take pride in using local produce as often as they can. All of the cakes and scones are baked fresh each day on the premises. Open for breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and afternoon teas.
